I have to admit that this isn’t my biggest strength but something I know I need to improve, and with experience, I will.
Being on set can be a heated experience as something WILL always go wrong. Either the kit acts up onset or the actors come late, which disrupts scheduling. There have been some moments on set where I’ve lost it and had to shout at someone else or people to let my anger out.
This is the wrong way to go about it, in my opinion, as people don’t tend to respect a guy barking orders or shouting swear words at them. There was an incident where I got kicked offset last summer where I raised my voice to someone who was way above me in the industry for something so small. This made me think that I needed to change my ways and learn how to be “cooler”.
With Bell Bottom, Hard to Leave series, and She Said He Said, there were moments where it got stressful- Instead of going off at people, I just took a walk around the set and was trying to figure out a solution to the problem. There is no point in going over the problem- always find a solution.
There were still moments where I did lose myself a little bit, but I know I won’t change overnight; but I do see an improvement in myself and have spoken to different people on how to be calmer under pressure, and hopefully, one day, I will find Zen.
